Found a little bit of Winter up in Northern Michigan recently.  This is a photo through the railings on the breakwall in Charlevoix, Michigan.  

Blink and You Missed It

It snowed on Thursday.  If you blinked, you missed it.  A few minutes later the sun came out; then another snow shower; then the sun came out again.

I got confused!  I wasn't sure if it was a sign that Winter was coming or if it meant that today was the start of Baseball Season ;)

Archway

I liked how the bare trees formed a lacy archway over the Sears Tower*.

*Yeah, yeah, yeah, it has some new name. It will always be Sears Tower to me ;)

Lakefront Tourists

Chicago gets a lot of tourists. This fine family, resting on one of the benches along the Lakefront Path, probably decided to visit our fair city to escape the snow and cold temperatures from their native Arctic home.

Done for the Day

The shovelers probably just decided to call it a day and get somewhere warm. Since the sidewalk was cleared, I'd say it was a well-earned rest.

Snowpocalypse, Part 1

Early on in the Blizzard of 2011, we had a Snow-nado ...

... and the traffic started getting heavy on Lake Snow Drive.

Later, a series of accidents on Lake Shore Drive between Belmont and North Avenue caused some looooonnnnng back-ups and ...

... Lake Shore Drive was eventually closed.

But I hear Puxatawney Phil the Groundhog did not see his shadow so Spring is just around the corner!

Theme Day: Fountains

It's the first of the month and that means it is Theme Day at City Daily Photo. February's theme, chosen by the CDP voters, is Fountains.

I'm sure this fountain provides thirst-quenching water ... during the summer ... when it isn't full of snow.

I like how the trees along the river, which are lit from the bottom with spotlights, look a little ghostly in black and white.

Definitely Not A Hot Seat

Although I did not initially plan it this way, this photo is the third in the series, from the last few days, called "You Can't Sit There ... After a Snow Storm in Chicago". These are the seats at the Pritzker Pavilion covered in a pretty, albeit cold, layer of fresh snow.

Winter Swing

I'm not surprised that no one has been playing on the swings in the park. It was a bit snowy yesterday.

It's Starting to Accumulate

The snow is starting to pile up around here (not as bad as the East Coast, though). I hope this rider has a snow scraper.

It's a white sand beach ... sort of. The sand is just covered with white snow.

You have to love the cool ice sculptures that Lake Michigan makes during the winter. These are along the pier in Charlevoix, Michigan.
