Watching for Waterspouts

There's an odd weather pattern (see the article here) involving the warm temperature of Lake Michigan and a slow moving low pressure weather system that caused a large number of waterspouts to form on Lake Michigan this past weekend. Here's the one I saw near South Haven. Michigan.

Smoking Cloud

This cloud, just hanging around southwestern Michigan, looked a little like it was smoking a cigarillo.

I knew if I stood in that spot long enough, a bunch of leaves would fall from the trees at the same time so I could get a photo.

So maybe it took a little longer

than originally expected ;)

Storm-sponsored Sunset

Chicago got hit with some severe thunder storms on Friday night. I was on the other side of the lake. While the storms went south of us, the edges of the storm treated us to an amazing sunset.

As of 6:28am CDT today , it's officially summer. Happy Summer Solstice everyone!

Feathered Friends: Wearing Red

Since today is National Wear Red Day, I thought I'd post some photos of some Vermillion Flycatchers. These were taken at a bird/nature area in San Juan Del Cabo, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Organized by the American Heart Association, the purpose of Wear Red Day is to raise awareness of women's heart disease.

Artsy Arch

Todos Santos is a small town about an hour north of Cabo San Lucas, via a scenic drive with many "Curvas Peligrosas" (Dangerous Curves). It is an arts oriented town and this beautiful archway leads into one of the galleries.
