Great (Mt.) Scott

Went to visit Mt. Scott in Lawton, OK yesterday. At almost 2,500 feet, Mt. Scott towers over everything around.

From the top, we could see the spinning blades of the Blue Canyon Wind Farm.

Also took a trip through the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. It's a beautiful park. The buffalo were a bit camera shy, though.

Beautiful country. Your photos and commentary make me want to take a road trip. We have wind mill farms in Palm Springs near Los Angeles. In some ways they seem majestic and curiously ominous--especially close up.

LOL, when I was looking through the portal, I thought "no way can this be Chicago" lol...beautiful (not that Chicago isn't!).

I've seen the windmill farms JT's talking about. We'd drive from 29 Palms Marine Corps Base, where my husband was stationed, back to San Diego (our hometown) and right through Palm Springs and those windmill farms!

The stunted vegetation on the rocky outcrop confirms that there is a lot of wind around to be harnessed. I like all the lichen on the rocks too.

Interesting geographic information. Taa ...
