Still Too Much Blue

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. This year, as in years before, the Fourth Presbyterian Church has tied blue ribbons on the trees by their North Michigan Avenue location to bring this issue to everyone's attention. In 2009, there were 29,688 confirmed cases of child abuse in Illinois.

As I wrote last year, that's way too many blue ribbons.

I agree--that is way too many ribbons! I remember taking pictures of this church back in December when it was decorated for Christmas. It's beautiful.

My Lord!

What is going on in Illinois?

Is there some kind of pattern or are the parents just bad parents or are the jails and prisons filled with bad parents?

There must be some reason though I can't think of a single reason to abuse a child.

It's not just Illinois. It's all over. I found this website with state statistics: http://ndas.cwla.org/data_stats/states/
I really don't know the reasons behind child abuse. I don't think it is even exclusively connected to economic conditions or educational background.

Yes it's too much blue. But I guess they really did that on purpose to make people pay attention to such an important issue. More people really ought to be aware of such things.
